I’ll admit it. When photobooths first started becoming “the thing” at parties, I wasn’t convinced.
I’ve spent over 30 years perfecting the art of photography—mastering the lighting, the timing, and the technical “perfection” of a shot. To me, a “box in the corner” felt like it was missing the point.
Then I saw the smiles.
I had the Shaun Scott Photography Photobooth out again this past weekend for a fantastic 50th birthday party, and it reminded me exactly why I changed my mind.
The Magic of the Booth
As a professional photographer, I work hard to capture the “perfect” moment. But a photobooth captures something else entirely: Unfiltered Joy. There’s something about stepping behind that curtain (or standing in front of the backdrop) that lets people’s guards down. Suddenly:
- Grandads are wearing pink feather boas.
- Old school friends are pulling the most ridiculous faces.
- The quietest person in the room is the star of the show.
Perfect Photos vs. Perfect Memories
I’ve realized that “perfection” isn’t always about the sharpest focus or the most artistic shadow. Sometimes, perfection is a crazy photo of three best friends laughing so hard they can’t stand up. My goal has always been the same: I want everyone to enjoy the occasion and have high-quality pictures to remember it by. Whether I’m behind the lens of my main camera or the booth is doing its thing, the end result is the same—happy people and lasting memories.
Make Your Next Event Unforgettable
If you’re planning a birthday, a wedding, or a corporate “knees up,” don’t just settle for a standard party. Give your guests a reason to let loose and a physical print to take home that night.
My booths use professional-grade equipment (because I’m still a photographer at heart!), so the quality is top-notch, but the fun is 100% authentic.
